Ever Since High School I’ve been a little bit of a Reggae Fan. When I say a little ~ I mean my palette isnt very wide. But I do have a deep Love for Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs and Toots & The Maytals.
I have fondness for the early years of Reggae filled with Soul, True Ska and Spiritual Undertones.
So this morning as the sun rises over Philadelphia; as I get High on La Colombe Coffee instead of Ganja ~ I give you The Maytals “NEVER GROW OLD” LP which I believe was recorded in 62′ or 63′, Orginally Released on CoxSone and the wonderful backin band The Ska Talites.
There is a very long History that follows the Maytals where they eventually land Present day as Toots & The Maytals still running strong. Toots Hibbert is considered one of the great voices of Jamaica. They are legends whose career spans every development in Jamaican music, from ska through rock-steady to reggae.

Please Enjoy Some Ska for Breakfast

I’m a big, big fan. I saw Toots & The Maytals, New Year’s Eve (‘97 into ‘98) at the dearly departed Maritime Hall in SF. They put on a positively jubilant live show. What a great way to welcome in the new year…
