Its Early Saturday AM, I’m sippin coffee from Portland OR even though I never made it there. Very long story but I was flying on a buddy pass with delta and the plane gods just didnt think it was my time to be on the west coast.  I cried a few tears of dissappointment then enjoyed the rest of my week off.

This morning I give you SCAB CADILLAC “TAGGED AND NUMBERED” Another Philadelphia Favorite of mine from 1989 released on Rave Records. I well up with pride that both this band and the record label found their home in my city. Rave Records would eventually relocate to California then fade away but they have a solid list of LPs & 45s under their belt. Bands like the More Fiends, Alien Boy, F.O.D, AntiSeen, Victims Family, Alice Donut, Skin Yard……

It’s hard to describe Scab Cadillac or put them in a genre box.  For bloggin sakes I’ll go with a cross between Punk & Grunge – they were of that crossover time frame so…. Totally Guitar Heavy, Dirty Bass sound and Fabulously Witty Lyrics/Vox of Big Jack Gorry are filled with Political Sarcasm, and as “once said in a radio interview “..tongue and cheek… more tongue than cheek.”

BAND: Jack Gorry-Vocals Paul Hazlet-Drums Doug Ahmehd-Mustapha-Bhen-Nyet-Guitar Bob Dickie-Bass

I Keep refering to singer Jack Gorry as Big cause when this band released this album and was touring; my understanding is he was a monster of a man, overweight and lumbering. I wasnt quite old enough to have seen them live in their prime but was fortunate enough to see a reunion show in the mid-90s where this singer transformed into a physically fit runner who revamped his whole life style. The live show was as perfect for me as the album.  I’m unsure of all the details or exact time frame but I will tell what I know post this show. Jack Gorry died of Heart Attack suddenly and ironically after he changed the way he lived his life on a whole. I believe he as barely 40

RIP
