You know those informercials you catch late at night wanting you to purchase a box set of CDs of the 70s rock Persuasion for like 30bucks. Boasting that they include all the Guitar driven hits you know, love and have to have.
Welcome to My Short Version – ENJOY!!!
1. Free – “Wishing Well”
Off their 7th & Last LP Release “HeartBreaker”. This Cut is One of their most successful singles. Paul Kossoff on guitar but sadly due to addiction to Quaaludes its said that session musicians periodically stepped in to replace him. So Who Knows………….
2. Randy Holden – “Blue My Mind”
Cut off the album “Population 2″. Always Loved the Fact that his website is www.guitargod.com
He played both bass & the guitar on the recording of this album
3. Mahogany Rush – “Talking Bout A Feeling”
Frank Marino still actively tourin and doing a mighty fine job of it ~ I witnessed it myself. His peak of Guitar popularity was in the 70s with this Canadian Rock band. “Early on in his career, it was claimed on the music press that he has stated that he is the Reincarnation of Henedrix, a claim that was substantiated by his playing of Hendrix classics with considerable virtuosity. This claim was dismissed by Marino himself as falsified information created by the press.” This Cut is off the Mahogany Rush Lp “Child Of Novelty”
4. Johnny Winter – “Guess I’ll Go Away”
Cut off the “Johnny Winter And” Lp.
5. Robin Trower – “Aletha”
I believe this is my most favorite Trower Song. Fabulous British Guitar Player who is also still touring actively & I was lucky enought to see Live. This song is off the LP “For Earth Below”
6. Roy Buchanan – “My Baby Says Shes Gonna leave Me”
Great Blues Guitar Player with a tragic story of alcohol and substance abuse which ended in an arrest for public intoxication then a suicide that followed. Cut is off the Lp “Thats What I Am Here For”
7. Jimi Henedrix – “Freedom”
THE KING OF GUITAR HIMSELF! Track I snagged off a Comp Lying Around the House
8. Bloodrock – “Lucky in the Morning”
1st off please excuse the quality but for me the snap, crackle, pop is the charm of vinyl and the solos on this cut couldn’t be left out of “the mix”
Besides Grand Funk Terry Knight discovered this Texas Rock Band with Guitar work by Lee Pickens. Cut is off their 2nd release “Bloodrock 2″
9. Black Sabbath – “Thrill of it all”
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr Tony Iommi!!
10. Leslie West – “Because You are My Friend”
MY LESLIE WEST-READ This Cut if off “Leslie West ~ Mountain”
