In the Summer of 69′ Silver Metre was born in San Francisco. It was the child of guitarist Leigh Stevens, previously of Blue Cheer along with Mick Waller from the Jeff Beck Group, Tom Cowan and Pete Sears who would later join Jefferon Starship. They released one album on the National General Label then of course break up. The album is laden with Heavy Rock & some Blues Undertone, thick with Guitar and Killer Drums.
The Story Behind my copy of the S/T LP is about 3years ago now I played hooky from work to go record shopping and Beer drinking in NYC with the Devil. Found this record ~ snapped it up, Price was $9.99 ~ It was in a sleeve, Didnt even pull it out to inspect the vinyl. Why would I Right? Any record that cost 10bucks should be user friendly. Think Again!! Got it home and whoever owned it previously decided to take my phrase “Eye Eat Music” Literally ~ their is a mouth size bite outta of the 1st cut. I wish I had my camara here so I could prove it. If the record store was local I would’ve marched it right back. Anyway Happy Wednesday to you All
Enjoy the Cuts

I never take the vinyl out and check it pre-purchase, and I’ve been burned repeatedly on that. The most extreme example was when I bought Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson’s ‘Ain’t That A Bitch’ LP and got it home before I realized that somebody had spraypainted the vinyl – and get this, it still plays perfectly!
Not sure if I’ll ever change my stripes, but thanks for the reminder…
