Along the Vein of a previous thread about High Fidelty Moments and having musical discussions with peers or should I say arguements ~ I love the discussion: Who is the “GREATEST ” metal band of “ALL TIME”?

There are plenty of legit answers out there that I won’t debate like Iron Madain, Metallic ~ I’ve heard some pretty bad answers too. I’ve seen this discussion almost turn to fist to cuffs of words & knowledge; which I enjoy a great deal.
I myself believe the correct answer is Black Sabbath, they were the beginning & the spine. Where would metal, Doom or Rock & Roll for the matter be without Sabbath.
But if I had to pick a second it would be Judas Priest.

So today I give you “Rocka Rolla” Judas Priest Debut album released in 74′ on Gull. This was a X-Mas gift from my dear friend S. Love. I myself didn’t grow up a metal kid.  My music world was filled with mostly New Wave & Classic Rock. I didn’t Live the Heavy Metal Parking Lot world that was going on around me but I learned to love it later in my early 20s.

Judas Priest gets the nod of being one the Great Metal Bands due to they are “one of the most influential bands of the ’70s, spearheading the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. With vicious two-lead guitar attack;  they set the pace for much popular heavy metal from 1975 until 1985, as well as laying the groundwork for the speed and death metal of the ’80s.”

I suppose I love this Priest album best cause its more of a prequel to metal ~ a little blues, Rock&Roll based closer to what Sabbath had already done before.  Plus the track “Cheater” has one of my favorite harmonica parts on any Lp.

“Cheater”
