The statement above is a bit dramatic but I’ve been known to be dramatic sometimes…. My day started early; a gift of fancy coffee from a Lady friend over a goodbye to India breakfast around 8am then worked a few hours on my own accord, a long cat nap and broke bread with the family for dinner. The coffee gift is where the mistake begins.

I so know better but couldnt resist brewing a pot @ 9:45pm of Stumptown Coffee of Portland, OR. hand delivered by my Portlandnite who knows I’m a lover of the coffee.
Right now I’m sipping “their” Sumatra Gayo Mountain and I will run late into the night cleaning the home, playing with my fancy xmas ipod and “bloggin” high on the coffee.

I give you tonight another Female Vocalist who’s voice gives me the chills & stand the hairs on my arms – Linda Hoyle

My 1st Turn-on to her voice was her band Affinity another one of those short-lived GOOD 70’s bands whos S/T album below is now a must have for collectors. I myself only own the Reissue on CD, the orginal Vertigo release is outta reach moneywise.

This UK band “blended folk, jazz, soul, blues, and elements of psychedelia and progressive rock. Highly regarded by critics, who praised the young Hoyle’s powerful vocals and Naiff’s inherent organ skills, it looked as if the band were to have a healthy career”

Myself I love the movement of this album, it’s like riding a trippy smooth heartfelt rollarcoaster. Mostly mellow, tryin to get heavy, hippie music, With some tripped out guitar, Dominant rockin organ on a few cuts, and vocals like a bluesy/soulful angel

Affinity 1970 (Germany) Vertigo Records

Please ENJOY the Cuts Below:

Affinity – Night Flight

Affinity – I’m and so Are You

Affinity – United States of Mind

Linda “recorded a solo album “Pieces Of me” co-written with Karl Jenkins, and backed by Soft Machine members Chris Spedding, John Marshall, Jeff Clyne and Karl. Linda renounced live performances and now teaches Art Therapy at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. She still sings and occasionally works with Juno nominee guitarist Oliver Whitehead.”

Linda Hoyle – “Pieces of Me” Vertigo 71

Akarma also reissued it on LP which has been a nice addition to my collection. It starts off with a Nina Simone cover of Backlash Blues then proceeds even softer, more blues filled then the Affinity album. It still has its guitar heavy moments like in the title track below.

Enjoy the Solo cuts of Linda Hoyle – I’m gonna pour myself another cup Coffee
